Three ways rich sensory motor experiences help your baby with breastfeeding

Understanding your baby's sensory motor needs helps ensure that days with your baby, and your breastfeeding, go as well as possible. There are three ways in which providing your baby with rich and changing sensory motor nourishment protects your breastfeeding relationship.

  1. Rich sensory motor nourishment is the second tool (after milk) for getting through the days and evenings in a way that is as easy and as enjoyable as possible.

    • If your baby seems to want to breastfeed all day when you're at home, try increasing the amount of sensory motor nourishment your baby receives by planning days that are outside the home. You can find out about this starting here.
  2. Rich sensory motor nourishment helps avoid or repair a conditioned dialling up at the breast

    • You can find out about this here.
  3. Rich sensory motor nourishment helps make baby and toddler sleep easy

    • You can find out about this in The Possums Sleep Program, including here.

Breastfeeding is great for your baby's motor development

Breastfeeding your baby offers your baby a rich sensory motor experience many times a day and night, which is fantastic for her motor development. You can find out about this here.
