What does NDC for Providers + Educators offer?

The program offers you the innovative evidence-based strategies known as Neuroprotective Developmental Care (NDC or 'The Possums Programs') to use as you work with new families facing breastfeeding, sleep and unsettled infant behaviour challenges, and as you promote parent mental health and emotional well-being in the perinatal period.

• The Possums Baby and Toddler Sleep Program

• The gestalt method of fit and hold in breastfeeding, and how it translates into supporting breastfeeding women

• The five domain approach to cry-fuss problems and use of NDC visual tool

• Powerful Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and self-compassion strategies for support of emotional well-being and mental health in the perinatal period

NDC for Providers + Educators involves the following steps

• Completion of pre-recorded videos of Introductory Workshop 1 - Evidence-based care of mothers and babies delivered by Dr Pamela Douglas and Ms Renee Keogh RN IBCLC

• Completion of pre-recorded videos of Introductory Workshop 2 - Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Perinatal and Infant Mental Health delivered by Ms Anya Snyder, mental health nurse practitioner

• Completion of pre-recorded NDC Modules, delivered by Renee Keogh RN, IBCLC, Founding NDC Educator

• Completion of pre-recorded clinical demonstrations by Renee Keogh with volunteer patients focused on breastfeeding, sleep, and cry-fuss challenges

• Completion of pre-recorded Sleep, Baby & You course.

Each participant will receive

• NDC Workbook

• Electronic flashcards (which you can print hardcopy) for memorising

• The Possums Sleep Program

• Gestalt method of fit and hold in breastfeeding

• Strategies from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy adapted for the perinatal period.

• Access to the wealth of resources in The Possums Baby and Toddler Sleep Program

• Sleep, Baby & You health professional workbook, animations for you to show parents, and handout to give parents.

Participants will also be able to:

• Participate in monthly Live Network Hours (LNHs) with an NDC Accredited practitioner. This is a chance for ongoing education and discussion as well as an opportunity to bring forward any cases participants may wish to discuss.

• Join the closed NDC Facebook group for Providers+Educators for peer support

• Participate in the NDC guest speaker program which includes monthly presentations by, and discussions with, highly qualified experts on a range of topics relevant to the care of parents with infants.
